Three month anniversary

Yesterday my wonderful wife, Tammie Jo (TJ), noted that it was my three month anniversary living in Amman, Jordan. Wow, how time flies! Sometimes it seems much shorter than that, and other days it sems longer, much longer. She arrived four weeks earlier than I did from Sioux Falls, SD, having accepted a position with the United Nations. TJ is the Emergency Fund Response Manager for the OCHA fund, which focuses on emergency releif projects in Iraq.

This move from the heartland of America to the Middle East has come with its share of adjustments. Everything from learning to drive, trying to learn the language (at least enough to order a meal) to learning the phrase "five minutes" can mean anything from five minutes to (more likely) an hour. The pace here is truly arabic. The work day doesn't sem to start until about 10am and by 3pm the streets begin to fill with traffic as people leave work. The phrase "inshallah" means "God willing" and covers just about anything and everything.
